Aguri DX1250 Speed Camera Database & Firmware Update Guide
Follow this step-by-step guide to update your Aguri DX1250 with the latest SpeedShield speed camera database and firmware. Updates are typically released around once per month to help keep alerts accurate. You’ll download a zipped update folder, unzip it, then copy the files onto your DX1250’s SD card.
What you'll need
Download the update
Click the Download DX1250 update button above to download the latest SpeedShield speed camera database and any available firmware files for your Aguri DX1250. The download will save to your computer (usually your Downloads folder) as a compressed .zip file, titled:
“DX1250 Speed Trap Database & Firmware Update”
Once the download has finished, leave the file in your Downloads folder — you’ll unzip it in the next step to access the individual update files.
Unzip the folder
The update file you downloaded is compressed into a .zip file. This means it must be “unzipped” before it can be used.
First, locate the downloaded .zip file on your computer. This will usually be in your Downloads folder.
On a Windows PC
- Right-click on the downloaded .zip file.
- In the menu that appears, look for an option such as Extract All, Extract Here, or Unzip. The exact wording depends on what zip software is installed on your computer.
- Click the extract option and follow any on-screen instructions. A new folder will be created containing the update files.
If you do not see any extract or unzip options, it means your computer does not currently have zip software installed. In this case, we recommend using 7-Zip, which is free and easy to use.
If you do not have unzip software installed, please visit our How to unzip a zipped folder guide for clear step-by-step instructions and links to recommended free software such as 7-Zip.
After installing 7-Zip:
- Right-click the .zip file again
- Choose 7-Zip > Extract Here or 7-Zip > Extract Files
On a Mac
Simply double-click the downloaded .zip file. macOS will automatically unzip it and create a new folder.
Insert the SD card into your computer
Switch off your Aguri DX1250 and carefully remove the microSD card from the side of the device.
Most computers do not have a microSD card slot. To connect the card to your computer, you will need to use one of the following:
- The microSD to SD card adaptor supplied with your DX1250, if your computer has a standard SD card slot, or
- A USB SD card reader, which plugs into a USB port (this may need to be purchased separately if you do not already have one).
Insert the microSD card into the adaptor or reader, then connect it to your computer.
Wait a few seconds for the card to be recognised. Your computer should then show the SD card as a removable drive:
- On Windows, open File Explorer and look for a new drive (for example, “Removable Disk”).
- On Mac, the SD card will appear on your Desktop or in Finder.
Open the SD card so you can see the existing files on it, and keep this window open — you’ll be copying the update files onto the card in the next step.
Copy the update files to the SD card
Open the unzipped DX1250 update folder on your computer. Inside this folder you will see one or more update files (for example, files ending in .dat or .bin).
Select all of the files inside the unzipped folder, then copy them.
Now switch to the window showing your SD card and paste the files directly onto the SD card.
If your computer asks whether you want to replace or overwrite existing files, choose Yes. This is normal and ensures the latest update files are installed.
You should see the update files sitting directly on the SD card alongside any existing files — not inside any folders.
Make sure the update files are copied to the root directory of the SD card.
The root of the SD card means the main level you see when you first open the SD card — before opening any folders.
Do not copy the update files into any existing folders on the card (such as video or system folders), and do not copy the entire zipped folder itself. If the files are placed inside a folder, the update will not work.
Complete the update
Once all update files have been copied to the SD card, safely eject the SD card from your computer.
- On Windows, right-click the SD card in File Explorer and select Eject.
- On Mac, drag the SD card icon to the Bin, or click the Eject icon next to it in Finder.
When it is safe to do so, remove the SD card from your computer and insert it back into your Aguri DX1250.
Power on the DX1250. The device will automatically detect the update files on the SD card and begin installing them. Information on the screen will show the progress of the update.
Do not remove the SD card or switch off the device while the update is in progress.
Once the update is complete, the DX1250 will restart automatically. The update process is now finished and the device is ready to use.
What files you should see on the SD card before updating
This section helps you check that you have completed the previous steps correctly before reinserting the SD card into your Aguri DX1250.
After you have:
- Downloaded the update
- Unzipped the downloaded folder
- Manually copied the update files onto the SD card
…the SD card should now contain one or more of the following files placed directly on the card itself.
- edogdata.dat – SpeedShield speed camera database
- FW96672A.bin – Firmware update
- WavMerge.bin – Audio file update
- LD96672A.bin – Language / hardware data
These files must be visible in the root directory of the SD card, which means the first screen you see when you open the SD card — not inside any folders. You may not see all of these files, and that is completely normal.
In many cases, only the file named edogdata.dat will be present. This simply means that no firmware, audio, or hardware updates are required at this time and that the only update available is the speed camera database.
As long as the files you see are copied directly onto the SD card (not inside a folder), the update will work correctly.
Common questions and quick fixes
Once the SD card is reinserted and the DX1250 is powered on, the update usually takes just a few seconds to complete.
During this time, information on the screen will show that the update is in progress. This is normal. Do not remove the SD card or switch off the device while the update is running.
If the update does not begin automatically after powering on the device, the most common cause is that the update files are not in the correct location.
Check the following:
- The update files are copied directly to the root of the SD card (not inside any folders)
- The entire zipped folder has not been copied to the SD card
- The SD card is fully inserted into the DX1250
If you have checked these points and the update still does not start, remove the SD card, reinsert it into your computer, and repeat the copy process carefully.
No. The DX1250 must not be used while an update is in progress.
Do not press any buttons, remove the SD card, or switch off the device until the update has fully completed and the unit has restarted. Interrupting the update may cause the process to fail.
This is completely normal. In many cases, only the speed camera database needs updating. If no firmware, audio, or hardware updates are required, only the edogdata.dat file will be included. The update will still work correctly.
You may need to delete some older video files from the SD card to create enough space for the update files.
If you want to keep any recorded videos, copy them from the SD card to your computer first before deleting them. Once saved to your computer, the video files can be removed from the SD card safely.
Deleting video files will not affect the operation of the DX1250 or the update process, and the device will continue to record new footage as normal after the update.
The microSD card in your Aguri DX1250 is held in place using a spring-loaded slot.
To remove it safely:
- Make sure the DX1250 is switched off.
- Gently push the microSD card inwards until you feel a small click.
- Release the card and allow the spring mechanism to push it out slightly.
- Carefully remove the card once it is released.
If you’re unable to press the microSD card in using your fingertip or fingernail, you can use the rounded end of a pen or pencil to gently press the card straight in, then release.
Important:
The spring mechanism can cause the card to eject suddenly. Place a finger over the card as you press it in so it doesn’t flick out and get lost.
Do not use sharp objects, as these could damage the card or the card slot. This spring-release behaviour is normal and does not indicate a fault with the device.
